| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The new TH-BA1 is a soundbar system that features a low-profile 4.1-channel front surround sound bar and wireless subwoofer. This system combines sleek design and simple setup with performance that delivers clear dialog and convincing surround sound. The sound bar is configured to fit neatly under a TV or can be wall-mounted. Its front surround technology eliminates the need for rear speakers and the placement problems, clutter and extra wiring that comes with them. A single cable connects the sound bar to a source (DVD or Blu-ray player) or TV via each systems' two digital optical inputs and one analog input. And to further simplify setup, the included subwoofer is wireless.

Great value, features February 26, 2010 Robert A. Hoffman (Santa Clara, CA United States) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
Pros:
- Easy set up
- Great remote (bumping up dialogue, bass, etc. is a breeze)
- Display is on front bar, not sub
- Sound quality
Cons:
- Subwoofer is only OK. Far far better than just using the tv speakers, but a far cry from a $500+ sub in a real 5.1 surround set up. This adds some oomph, but doesn't shake the room or rattle the bones the way a more expensive sub does.
- It is not as "pretty" as some others (Sony 100 or Vizio 210), so might not be ideal in a nice living room.
- No HDMI connectivity (not a negative for me but may be for some)
Overall, a better choice for me than the Sony (no wireless sub, display is on the sub) or Vizio (no center channel/dialogue adjustment on the remote).
For a living room I'd want something with a higher quality sub, but for a secondary system for under $300, I think the JVC TH-BA1 is excellent.
Works great January 24, 2010 Greg Moon (Charlotte, NC) 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
I recently took the HD TV plunge in our small living room and quickly decided we needed something to compliment the great picture. The soundbar is located directly in front of the TV; connected with digital cable from the U-Verse box and the Blu-Ray player, and then an analog connection from our media center PC via the TV. Setup went smoothly and the wireless subwoofer connected instantly from across the room. I've found that I have to reduce the subwoofer output when my wife is in the room because she keeps asking if someone is at the door or pulling in the driveway. The only problem I had was with the analog connection. At first I thought that it wasn't working and called customer support. They helped me figure out that the "center" volume had to be cranked up along with the TV volume since I have the the analog audio out going from TV to soundbar for playing stuff from the PC. This setup is more than enough in a small, open living room to benefit from HD/Blu-ray effects and it does a good job when I play from my music collection on the PC.
Great sound easy set-up ! December 28, 2009 Dave 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
Great sound and easy set-up!
The wireless sub-woofer sounds great and was set-up in about 15 seconds with
one button.
The unit has a clean look with real metal speaker grill.
The 2 surround modes can be adjusted by the remote.
I wanted to add better sound to my TV without running a bunch of wires
and this Soundbar hits the mark!
JVC Soundbar is a great value! April 9, 2010 TJ (Maryland) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I needed more sound and better quality than the sound in my 50" LG Plasma tv. This soundbar was the perfect solution for a relatively low cost. I didn't need home theatre for the rectangular, mostly closed room and this sound clarity is excellent. Set up is about as simple as it gets - no more than 5 minutes to connect and synchronize. I'm glad I didn't go with the home theatre at 3 to 4 times the cost.
nice upgrade to tv speakers May 4, 2010 Shaun Strayer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased the LG 50pk550 and wanted to upgrade the sound system. I have to agree with everything else that was already said about the system. I had to order an optical cable to hook into my TV, my TV didn't have any RCA outputs.
